    The Asteroid Ranger Story:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Summary: This is Pt. I of a space opera, that starts in the 2150s. Our hero, Rex Huxley, explores the darkest parts of the solar system, to map asteroids and locations for mining companies. This line of prospectors is known as Asteroid Rangers.
    ~
    On his latest mission to the edge of the solar system, Rex is visited by visions of another civilization. After coming to, he finds himself far from his location, being pulled towards an unknown location. There, he finds an alien artifact that turns out to be alive. Read on to find out more, and what will Rex do?
    Song 1; The Asteroid Ranger:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Earth, in the 2150s, is a busy place. Massive highways lead to massive skyways, which brings commuters through layers of designated sky lanes. These flying machines, which resemble a blend of today's cars and miniature rockets, carry the people of Earth about their daily lives, whether that be on Earth or elsewhere.
    ~
    Introduce our hero, Rex Huxley, a prospector of sorts, who charts the darkest regions of the solar system, also known as "Asteroid Ranging". His livelihood is supported by selling these charts to mining companies. Machines will eventually take his job, but for now, there is too much of the solar system left unexplored, and this keeps him employed. He is currently in the process is leaving earth via one of these skyways, to head towards the Oort cloud, with a stop at one of Titan's shantytowns "Base No. 4".
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Song 2; This is the Magic:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The Asteroid Rangers' job is to chart sections of the solar system that are too remote for the fleets of machines that the mining companies use. Operating and maintaining these fleets of machines is expensive, and there is just too much solar system. These companies can save a lot of time and resources by buying charts off of Asteroid Rangers. This brings our hero, Rex Huxley, to the darkest and coldest parts of the solar system, the inner "edge" of what is called the Oort cloud. He's been this far out several times before.
    ~
    However, something is different about this trip. When approaching one of the theoretical "edges" of the Oort cloud, Rex starts to experience visual and audio hallucinations. These visions totally transport Rex into another solar system, in another time, witnessing another civilization. Massive and bizarre ships fly overhead while he stands on a strange orange planet, watching a strange pink sunset. Everything he sees in this vision feels alien but not as alien as he feels in this vision. When he comes to, he finds that his ship is wildly off course, but he doesn't turn back. Something is pulling him in this direction, and he needs to find out more.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Song 3; Ancient Might:
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In this chapter, Rex is trying to figure out this inner feeling of being pulled towards a dark and seemingly empty section. It's as if something inside his mind was telling him where to go. Nearing the dark section, he starts to feel a pulsing in his brain. Out of nowhere, a voice enters his mind, telling him to not be afraid. The voice is distant but grows stronger as Rex continues on. Before long, his ship can detect a shape in the darkness. His scanners show the shape of an obelisk, and he knows that he found what he was looking for.
    ~
    Suddenly, the voice returns, strong and clear. The voice says that it is sending electric signals to parts of Rex's brain so that they may communicate. It is a being from another solar system, its people long since having shed their biological bodies. It is possibly the last of its kind, its civilization had decayed away over millions of years. The voice asks Rex to bring it back to Earth, to complete its mission of helping any lifeforms that it may encounter. Does Rex trust the lifeform? Find out in Pt. II, coming out in March!

Long ago, we ruled this place; Now we're gone, without a trace; In the darkness you will find; Bits of us left behind; Left behind; Empty shells, are all that's left; All our might, time had swept; Through the ages, we did climb; Before your time; Before your time;
